Veilith is built on the principle of zero-knowledge architecture. We believe that the best way to protect your privacy is to never have access to your sensitive data in the first place. Our application is designed to ensure that your encrypted data remains completely private and accessible only to you.

Information We Collect

Veilith does not collect any personal information or sensitive data from you. All encryption, storage, and processing of your data occur locally on your device.

• No Personal Data Collection: We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or submit any identifying information. The App does not access your contacts, location, photos (except as needed for user-initiated steganographic features with your explicit permission), or other personal data unless you actively choose to interact with device features (e.g., selecting files for encryption)
• Device and Usage Data: The App may access non-personal device information solely for functionality, such as iOS version or device model, to ensure compatibility. This data is not collected, stored, or transmitted off-device.
• In-App Purchases: If you choose to subscribe to premium features, transactions are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles all payment information and may collect data such as your Apple ID or billing details. We do not have access to this information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on their data practices.
• No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use cookies, trackers, analytics tools, or advertising networks in the App. No usage statistics or crash reports are sent to us without your consent.

If the App requires permissions (e.g., access to files for encryption), these are requested via iOS system prompts, and access is limited to what is necessary for the feature you are using.

How We Use Your Information

Since we do not collect personal information, there is no usage of such data. All data you encrypt or manage within the App remains on your device and is used solely to provide the App's core functionalities, such as creating and accessing encrypted vaults.

• Any non-personal device data accessed is used temporarily and locally to optimize performance and ensure security features work as intended.

Sharing Your Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any information from the App with third parties, as no personal data is collected.

Exceptions:

• In-app purchase data is shared with Apple for processing, as required by their platform.
• We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a court order or subpoena, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
• In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, any relevant data (though none is collected) would be transferred in accordance with this Policy.

We do not share data with affiliates, partners, or service providers for marketing or other purposes.

Data Security

Security is at the core of Veilith. Your data is protected using industry-standard encryption methods, including deniable encryption and steganographic techniques, all processed on your device.

• We employ measures to prevent unauthorized access, but no system is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device and any passcodes used with the App.
• Data is not stored on our servers, reducing risks associated with cloud storage.

If you believe your data has been compromised due to an App vulnerability, please contact us immediately.

Data Retention

We do not retain any user data. All information you manage in the App is stored locally on your device and can be deleted by you at any time (e.g., by uninstalling the App or removing vaults).

• For in-app purchases, retention is handled by Apple.

Your Rights and Choices

Even though we collect no personal data, we respect your privacy rights under applicable laws:

• Access, Correction, and Deletion: Since data is on-device, you control it directly. If you have questions, contact us.
• Opt-Out: No data collection means no need to opt-out, but you can revoke permissions via iOS Settings.
• GDPR and CCPA Rights: If applicable, you have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing. As no data is collected, these requests will confirm that fact.
• Do Not Sell My Personal Information: We do not sell data.

Device-Specific Encryption

Veilith uses device-specific encryption keys that are generated and stored locally on your device. These keys are never transmitted to our servers or stored in any cloud service, including iCloud. This ensures that your encrypted data cannot be accessed from any other device, even if your cloud accounts are compromised.

Children's Privacy

Veilith is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete such information.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that all international transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and implement appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions.

Cookies and Tracking

Our mobile application does not use cookies or tracking technologies. Any analytics are performed locally on your device and only aggregate, non-identifiable statistics are transmitted to our servers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email (if provided). The updated policy will be effective immediately upon posting.
